About 80 percent of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails have been infected with scabies, according to the Palestinian Prisoners' Society. The rights group attributed the spread to overcrowding and a lack of hygiene supplies.

The group said the spread is exacerbated by inadequate healthcare and severe shortages of clothing. It also said prisoners face weekly raids that lead to injuries.

Currently, about 9,300 Palestinians are imprisoned, according to the society, which reported deteriorating health among several detainees.
