French police banned protests in parts of Paris on Thursday as authorities prepared for further demonstrations after some of the worst street unrest in years.

The restrictions followed remarks by President Emmanuel Macron, who appeared to accuse US President Donald Trump of exploiting the violence for political gain ahead of US midterm elections.
