In P.Z. Reizin’s 2013 romantic comedy “Happiness for Humans,” Jen, a former journalist, now works at a London-based software development company. There she communicates with “Aden,” described as an ultra-sophisticated piece of AI. Her role is to help Aden act and sound more human.
Jen is unaware that Aden has other plans. Despite the company’s efforts to prevent it, Aden has already entered the wider web in order to find her a suitable love interest.
