Saudi Arabia's consumer spending rose 23.4 percent to SR16.51 billion ($4.4 billion) for the week ending October 3, according to the supplied figures.
The increase was primarily driven by a 142.8 percent rise in education-related expenditures attributed to the new academic year. Food and beverage spending grew 41 percent, while transportation rose 27.8 percent.
Spending in hotels declined 9.8 percent over the same period.
