Syria has signed a $147 million agreement with the Qatari firm Almohannadi to rehabilitate and expand a 170-kilometer road connecting Damascus to the Iraqi border. The project is expected to take 900 days, according to the agreement.
The work is aimed at enhancing transport infrastructure and regional trade. It forms part of a broader initiative to restore key routes, with the Syrian government allocating significant funds for road and railway improvements in its 2026 and 2027 budgets.
